Chiropractic scams in Australia: Lateline
From July 6th, 2009 Lateline looks at the fraudulent claims made by chiropractors in Australia. Don’t miss CAA president, AVN member and buddy of Isaac Golden, Simon Floreani defending manipulation of the neck which carries a high degree of permanent injury risk a higher degree of soft tissue injury the risk of accelerating osteoarthritis and risk of death by stroke and/or severing of the vertebral artery. The level is around 0.005%. Floreani claims it’s around 1 in close to 6 million. Put simply he claims it’s as little as 300 times less than insurer Kaiser Permanente’s (who refuse to cover the process) upper level figure. They claim up to 5 per 100000. Kaiser also refer to “the paucity of evidence” supporting any benefit, so one may feel free to be honestly baffled at exactly what Floreani is “proud” of, much less why he’d omit the truth on national TV. For added nonsense try juggling Floreani’s outrageous antivaccination claims against vaccines that have neurological ADR’s documented at less than 1 in 1 million. He’s also caught out on the old lack of RCT’s for “treating” colic. Just quickly, it’s parental bias. If parents think bub is getting chiro’ for colic, they report improvement even when they’re not. Conversely if they are getting chiro’ and parents believe they aren’t, they report a worsening of symptoms.
