What pain relief did you use in labour and delivery?
Was it sore when they administered it?
Was the pain completely away or not fully?
Did you have any bad reactions or side effects?
Would you recommend it/use it again?
Every detail of your experience would be great.
I’m trying to gather as much info on each pain relief drug available before i make my own decision on what i’ll be using, so every little detail is appreciated!

i had gas and air because there is no side affects and it only works when you want it to, i wanted to be in a decent stage when both my girls were born, so i only used gas and air, plus its painless because its only gas and air
but it all depends on how much it hurts and how much you can take before it gets too much, good luck

I was induced both times… I started out with the shot that they will give you… sorry I don’t remember what it was… but it really didn’t do anything for me.. so I got the epidural.. with my first baby they gave it to me sitting up.. It worked great but I didn’t know that there was a button that I could push to get a top up… by the time I had my baby I was starting to unfreeze but I was able to know that I needed to push so that was good.. not good was that I felt the stitches… if you can feel it speak up until they listen to you! with my 2nd baby they gave it to me laying down on my side… I hated getting it that way.. they got a vein and had to do it again but it did the job.. I went from 6 cm to 10 cm’s in less then a half hr so I did feel that… even with the button the meds couldn’t keep up but I was really glad that I had it because I don’t want to know what it would have been without it.. they called the dr and she gave me another shot of the epidural but the baby was born before I got the full affect. For me the epidural was great both times… I have really intense contractions that are about 1 min apart from the start so getting the epidural gives my body a chance to relax and dilate.. I went from 4 cm’s to having a baby in less than 4 hrs both times!! I went into the whole thing with the “if I need it then I will get it” I didn’t want to be the kind of person that was like “no way will I get that” when I didn’t know how labor would feel and I didn’t want to feel disappointed or feel like I had failed because I got the pain meds.. You don’t know how it will be until you are there! Good luck!

rofl. i didn’t get any kind of pain relief during labor and delivery, except my doctor numbed me when he gave me an episiotomy. it felt like a little pinch when he gave me the shot, but it didn’t hurt. i guess the pain went completely away because i didn’t feel him cut me open. no i didn’t have any bad reactions or side effects. yes i would use it again, i don’t want to feel myself rip open >.< omg.

I had an epidural. It lasts about 3 hours and wore off completely before I started pushing. Getting it was such a breeze that I regret worrying about it before the birth. Just felt like a quick, cold pin prick. It took away the strong cramps/contractions but never took away the pressure, which is what I really wanted relief from. I had no side effects and will be using it again.
