What’s a non-invasive way to deal with what is probably a pinched nerve?
Arm keeps going numb and it depends on posture, activity, etc. It comes and goes. Maddening during the day and impossible to sleep. It’s not cardiac, don’t say go to the ER. Starts right past my shoulder and goes to my fingertips. Been going on for months. Usually if I wait long enough, aches and pains go away. This one is stubborn.
Does that sound like a pinched nerve? Is there a non-MD ways to address it?

How about chiropractic and massage?

Have you had any injury to your neck or shoulder? If not, you can try putting your arm in a sling for a couple of weeks, if there is swelling that is pinching off a portion of a nerve that can help reduce it by minimizing movement. You can also take an OTC anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen.
If none of that works you may need to see a doctor as nerves can become trapped and would need to be surgically moved to a different pathway.

Sounds like carpal tunnel. I had surgery on both wrists, a little sore for a few weeks but well worth it for me.
You can try the different methods of non invasive treatment, I did everything but only surgery helped.

Yes, this sounds like it could be a pinched nerve. If this is related to posture and activity, it’s probably not neuropathy. Sometimes the foraminal openings in the spine, through which the nerve bundles pass, get narrowed…pinching the nerves. Chiropractic therapy could be helpful. Something as simple as Yoga or other stretching exercises will probably give you some relief. Sometimes surgery is suggested, but should really be a last resort. Always try the simple treatments first, always the least invasive. You might also look for a book by Robin McKenzie if you want to try treating yourself. I use some of his exercises to treat my own back problems.

It does sound like a pinched nerve, with even the possibility of a dislocated rib high up behind your shoulder blade. Gentle Yoga stretches can help. Ice packs, 20minutes on per hour will help with the inflammation of the nerve and surrounding muscle and soft tissue.
A lot of people think they are quacks, but, when it gets really bad, I go to my Chiropractor. If you can find one that is gentle and will talk to you and give you tips to do at home a couple of adjustments can really help.
Once the nerve is free from the “pinch” it’s in, {you’ll feel it go} you need to take at least the rest of the day easy and try not to stress it. Again, the muscles and surrounding tissues will still be a bit sore, Tylenol or Ibuprofen and ice packs with rest will help a lot.

THIGH ONLY DEAL WITH PINCHED ASSES.
July 14, 2011 - 4:51 am
I suggest the same…chiropractic and massage. It will do you wonders. I am a certified massage therapist. If you wanna travel down to VA, I will give you a free massage. But, if you don’t choose me, stick with a therapist who knows a lot about the subject. Preferably one who works in the chiropractors office. They deal with problems like yours very often, and will know better how to hasten your healing. Not to mention, it will probably be cheaper than a massage at the froufrou spa.

You don’t have a pinched nerve in your arm. You have a tendon that is tight for your triceps muscle an it needs to be released to get rid of the pain. A dr. can’t do that, a chiropractor can’t do that. So how well do you know the muscles in your body to do it? Hold the tendon of your triceps for 30 seconds while you have your arm extended straight out in front of you. After 30 seconds slowly bend your arm all the way up, then release the pressure but hold it there for another 30 seconds. Most people have trouble finding those muscles so I’m not sure how well you will fare.
